A new Walk up Knocknarea Mountain has just opened this summer and is accessible within a ten minute walk from the front door… take a hike and visit the Iron Queen, Queen Medb of Connacht. It will take about an hour and a half to climb and gives terrific views across Sligo. You can also try the new looped walk to the old 4th Century ruins of Killaspugbrone Church … to name but two great walks.
If you would like to take an Historical tour, visit the tombs and graves of the first settlers to Ireland or perhaps walk the lands where William Butler Yeats waxed lyrical, then Sligo and Strandhill is the place for you.. Carrowmore Cemetery, the largest collection Megalithic tombs in the world is older than Newgrange and the Pyramids.
